Long-term media assets, stronger community presence & sustainable creative support
Frisse Folk did not need a new identity. The school already had a clear voice, an active community and a communication system that worked. The challenge was elsewhere: finding enough time, attention and creative energy to build the slower, long-term content that daily operations rarely leave room for.
The Challenge - When daily communication already takes everything
Frisse Folk is a dance school and event organiser with a busy rhythm of classes, events and community activity. Its everyday communication is already functional and well aligned with its audience. The difficulty is familiar to many small organisations: keeping everything running takes most of the available time and energy. There is always more that could be developed, particularly longer-lasting content that can explain the work, strengthen the school’s presence and remain useful beyond the next event. But finding the extra capacity to create it from scratch is another matter entirely.
The Process - Building on what is already there
Our collaboration has taken place through several focused periods over the last few years. Rather than rebuilding Frisse Folk’s communication, my role has been to look at what is already happening and ask where a little extra strategy, production and creative attention could create longer-term value. That has included longer-form videos, explanatory and pedagogical content, event coverage and broader visual communication. A central question runs through the work: how can we create something durable without adding another heavy project to a team whose daily operations are already close to capacity? Whenever possible, we build from what already exists. An event can also become documentation. Existing knowledge can become an explanatory video. The energy already invested in daily work can sometimes be carried a little further, producing something that continues to be useful afterwards.

CULTURAL WORK IS SOCIAL WORK
The Impact - Letting good work travel further
The result is not one dramatic transformation, but something more cumulative. Alongside supporting current events and communication, the school gradually builds a library of material that lasts beyond the immediate moment. These pieces help explain what Frisse Folk does, reinforce its place within the community and give future communication more to build from. Because the collaboration works around the school’s existing rhythm rather than competing with it, long-term development becomes possible without asking the core team to suddenly find another reserve of time and attention they simply do not have.
Why it matters
Many small organisations face the same problem. The work required simply to exist already takes most of the available resources, even when everyone involved knows there are valuable projects waiting just beyond the daily necessities. Cressens Media can bring that missing layer of attention: looking strategically at what is already there, identifying where a little extra investment could go further, and turning some of today’s work into value that remains useful tomorrow.
A word from Koen Dhondt for Frisse Folk
Having a partner who looks at what we have already built and brings good ideas to expand the impact of that work is incredibly valuable. Each sub-project has been a pleasure to go through and a net positive for the school.
Make your work go further.
If the daily work is running well but the projects that could build longer-term value keep being pushed aside, perhaps the answer is not to add more work. It might be to look differently at what is already there.
